President Donald Trump put the media and political world on edge over the weekend with a series of tweets condemning former President Obama for wiretapping and spying on him and his associates in Trump Tower during the 2016 election season. It’s possible this was done illegally.
Of course, there has been major pushback on Trump’s accusations. Perhaps because if Obama gets indicted, an entire house of cards will fall along with him. If evidence is found to support Trump’claimim, it could lead to unprecedented charges of felony against a former president.
Highly-regarded former senior intelligence officer retired Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer spoke with USA Radio Network’s Rusty Humphries on “Trending Today USA” Monday morning. Shaffer said the incident was an “order of magnitude” bigger than the Watergate scandal. Furthermore, Shaffer shared the incident would have included “using nation-state resources for purposes of political gain.”
Humphries asked if everything was true, would Obama be arrested and accountable for violating the laws.
This could be the first time a former president could be indicted for a felony. Because I think it is very possible that he acted outside of the scope of his duties, responsibilities and authorities to turn the resources of a nation-state on a candidate. This is, as I’ve said before, soviet-dictator level wrongdoing.
Shaffer added that given Obama’s history of wiretapping, it appears probable he would do it to Trump–especially since everyone thought Hillary would win, then Obama could have gotten away with it.
