Last year, retired Iraq war veteran had to fight eight Muslim men on Victoria’s Surf Coast in Australia after one of them attacked his wife. For people who are trying to distort the truth of this incident, he wants to set the record straight. Kyle Tyrell was standing up for his wife, Liana, who was attacked by a Muslim man after she told him the beach was a no-fishing area.
Tyrrell, 48, said the man punched his wife in the face. He added, the man called his wife a “white slut,” making the attack racially and culturally motivated. Tyrell suffered minor injuries. According to The Washington Times, the retired lieutenant colonel received criticism for the attack–because by default, you’re always a victim as long as you’re Muslim, right?
He then posted a reply on the Stand Up For Australia — Melbourne Facebook page, where he said he had no other option but to fight. Tyrell said the Muslim man was offended by a woman telling him what to do. So, the man started talking back to Tyrell’s wife.
She ignored him, and he was angry that he wasn’t getting the attention his over-inflated ego thought he deserved. That’s when the Muslim man started attacking her. Tyrell rushed in to help his wife. Tyrell shared that after he got the man into a headlock, eight other men joined in on the fight. Tyrell wrote:
His mates got close to me and then he made a run for my wife, that’s when I ran at him. He threw a punch, which I ducked, and the fight started. At no time could either my wife, daughter or I safely walk away.
At one point, one of the men told Tyrell’s wife that her husband needed to teach her a lesson. Tyrell went on to say:
I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat. In fact, I would do the same thing for any woman I saw in that situation, not just my wife.
In an interview with the Australian Herald Sun, Tyrell stated:
I was just protecting my wife and daughter, like any man.
It may be too much to ask that these men learn some manners, but let’s hope they do.
What do you think of Tyrell’s actions? Did he do the right thing?
