Is he ever planning to leave the White House? Only 10 days remain, and Obama deployed the largest armed U.S. military brigade in Europe since the end of the Cold War.
They arrived at a port in northern Germany on Saturday. The U.S. Army’s 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division arrived in the port of Bremerhaven on Friday and began a days-long process of deploying heavy equipment including tanks and armored vehicles. The move appears to be an assurance to NATO allies that the United States is prepared to respond if Russia pursues further aggression in the region.
Moreover, the 3,500-troop brigade is part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. There have been troop deployments in the region for decades, but often troops would be rotated out without being replaced. According to Stars and Stripes, the Pentagon intends to maintain the full deployment and replace returning soldiers after their 9-month deployments are completed.
The troops are scheduled to be deployed also in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, across the Baltics and Germany. Furthermore, they will engage in training exercise with NATO host nations.
