Lois Lerner’s e-mails are at the heart of the IRS targeting scandal. Now, thousands of them have been wiped out by the Obama administration’s agency in an attempt to hide the evidence and facts.
“We want to pursue the facts,” House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said in response to news that the IRS destroyed possible proof of purposely delaying applications for conservative organizations. “When there’s a destruction of evidence, that goes to a whole another level.”
“It just defies any sense of logic. It gets to the point where it truly gets to be unbelievable. Somebody has to be held accountable,” he added.
The IRS, of course, has denied that erasing 24,000 e-mails was meant to hide anything and that the e-mail screw-up was just part of business as usual for the IRS.
