According to The Daily Caller, earlier today President Barack Obama used “a mix of flattery, selective data and visceral campaign pitches” to convince a naive band of “upper-income progressives at Northwestern University in Chicago” that the economy is not only booming, but also “guiding the nation towards middle-class prosperity.”
Cue Barry’s lovers over at the The NY Times:
Warning that “I’m going to be giving you a lot of good statistics,” Mr. Obama noted that since he took office, the employment picture has brightened considerably, with 10 million jobs created. Deficits have fallen steeply, he said, from nearly 10 percent of gross domestic product to near 3 percent, and the growth in health care costs has slowed.
NBC Chicago adds that President Obama also “detailed a few suggestions for building on the economy in the next decade, namely investing in clean energy technology [spending more], making high-quality preschool available to every child [spending more], fixing the immigration system [amnesty] and raising the minimum wage [bad economics].”
President Obama also touted the need for us to equalize wages, though it should be noted that wages at the White House still remain quite unbalanced.
And oh, if you recall, back in July, I reported via CNS News that “the number of Americans 16 and older who did not participate in the labor force climbed to a record high of 92,120,000.” And then in August, I explained via the The Federalist that the real unemployment rate is actually 10.1. percent.
And oh, award-winning entrepreneur Rich Karlgaard notes via Fox News that the number of people on food stamps is now at 15 percent, whereas it was only at 11 percent when Obama took office. Likewise, “disability insurance has now climbed 40 percent under Obama.”
Furthermore, according to Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight, the median household income has dropped by a whopping 8 percent since 2007, adjusted for inflation. This despite the bevy of tax hikes imposed on us by our Marxist-in-chief president, who continues to argue that increased taxes represent the true path to prosperity.
But hey, everybody relax, grab a beer and smirk like a dumbass, because according to President Obama, the country is doing super-duper swell, guys!
In the likely words of US Department of State teenybopper Jen Psaki, “Like . . . yay!”
